INVESTMENT DUE DILIGENCE ANALYST - QUANTITATIVE FOCUS WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? This position will work directly with the CNR Manager Research team to support and assist in Investment and Operational Due Diligence functions. The group for this role manages City National Rochdale's (CNR) non-proprietary investment strategies, new product development for both CNR and external investment managers, sub-advisory relationships, and investment analysis such as portfolio models. Drawing on resources throughout the organization, this team will conduct and/or oversee the manager research and due diligence efforts for approved mutual funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs), separately managed accounts (SMAs) and alternative managers and strategies. The role is designed to be the backbone of the group from a data analysis, report generation, process perspective. Support will also cover Operational Due Diligence oversight for many different investment vehicles.Responsibilities will support the group from an automation, report development, quantitative research perspective. Like other members of the team, there will be a requirement to understand controls for compliance with applicable regulations, identification of relevant issues, solution design, design of required controls and monitoring, leveraging industry practices and coordination with colleagues across the organization.This role is expected to contribute constructively and balance challenges, supporting alignment of business objectives with CNB's risk appetite and established limits. What you will do

  • Assist with investment due diligence, selection, and monitoring of traditional managers for use in CNR's open architecture platform and proprietary sub-advised strategies.
  • Perform detailed quantitative research and statistical analysis to assess performance and risk of investment managers.
  • Design and implement quantitative models to enhance manager selection and portfolio construction processes.
  • Automate data collection, analysis, and reporting using advanced programming skills.
  • Manage and maintain databases and dashboards to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Communicate complex quantitative findings to both technical and non-technical audiences through reports and presentations.
  • Participate in due diligence processes and contribute to the continuous improvement of research methodologies.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in quantitative analysis and financial research.
  • Represent the Wealth Management business first line of defense (1LOD) and aid with 2LOD Review & Challenge to provide sufficient guidance during testing periods and on a day-to-day basis.
  • Contribute to the development of a robust risk culture, risk conduct, and risk literacy within the 1LOD, including design and implementation of preventive and detective controls relating to Wealth Management Research activities (standing up Compliance-related controls)
  • Prioritize organizational risk management objectives.
  • Participate in special projects as necessary.
  • Assist with audit and examination preparation activities.

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of Investment Research experience
  • 5+ years experience in utilizing financial data platforms such as Bloomberg, Morningstar, and/or FactSet
  • 3+ years proven track record of developing and implementing quantitative models
  • 3+ years demonstrated ability to automate data processes and manage large datasets

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB
  • Advanced knowledge of financial data platforms (Bloomberg, Morningstar, FactSet)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI a plus
  • Relevant certifications such as CFA, FRM a plus
  • Investment Management experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills - and ability to interact with colleagues at all levels in a peer-like way, and achieve goals without direct control over resources
  • Strong emerging end-to-end generalist problem solving skills, e.g.,
  • Defining and deconstructing problems
  • Prioritizing issues and analysis
  • Structuring and building quantitative and qualitative/conceptual analyses
  • Knowledge in Financial Services
  • Demonstrated ability to Influence change, build relationships, communicate effectively, work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and deliver high caliber results.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • An outstanding ability to analyze problems, apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written), work well in cross-functional teams
  • Quick learning ability, outstanding analytical skills and a structured way of thinking, your attention to details is exceptional
  • Operate well under stress, even faced with tight timelines for ambitious deliverables Significant experience in driving operational change with front line to senior leadership personnel
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • Be able to handle uncertainty well, and are able to simplify complexity
  • CFA, CAIA, and/or MBA or progress is encouraged, but not required
Compensation Starting base salary: $92,114 - $156,880 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
