PRINCIPAL MORTGAGE TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM PRODUCT OWNER

 

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? The Principal Mortgage Technology Platform Product Owner is responsible for a product(s) or product line(s) within a technology platform that supports enterprise processes and initiatives, that is essential to the bank's day-to-day operations and that provides a technology foundation for the bank's competitive edge in the marketplace. They manage activities for a specific product(s) or product line(s) within a technology platform from conception through implementation, support, continual improvement, and innovation. They perform product and use case analysis, provide product documentation and training and serves as technical advisor on matters concerning the designated product(s) or product line(s). Additionally, at the principal level this position possesses advanced competencies and may own emerging, complex or strategically important Product(s) or Product Lines(s). Additional responsibilities may include mentoring and leading other staff, providing additional peer review, liaising with senior management on strategic initiatives and recommending and leading strategic initiatives. The Technology Platform Principal Product Owner is a recognized expert professional within the company both within and beyond own function with deep expertise or unique industry knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Provides direction and support relative to research, implementation, operation, enhancement, analysis, reporting and performance of their product(s) or product line(s)
  • Identifies new business opportunities and needs for new or improved usage of their products
  • Collaborates with platform owner and process owners within their product domain to unify the roadmap vision
  • Promotes and evangelizes the platform and products across the enterprise to improve business capabilities and support competitive advantages
  • Creates Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for their product, ensuring an outcomes-based value management is in place
  • Ensures that the product or product line is used as intended by the platform vendor, that usage is in line with vendor community best practices, that business value is fully realized, and that configuration usage promotes platform health guidelines
  • Understands Best Practices for their products and the business process they support; and works with process owners and key stakeholders to ensure they are followed
  • Owns the prioritization of the development backlog for their product(s) and approval for what is in each release
  • Collaborates with the platform/development team on technical and support issues/cases
  • Coordinates resources during the Demand and Agile Development processes
  • Develops information materials on product features, benefits, requirements and presents to business stakeholders
  • Acts as platform representative and platform resource coordinator to projects and initiatives that leverage the platform
  • Participates fully in platform-level programs and upgrade/release planning activities
  • Evangelizes strategic use cases for new features and emerging products with business leadership
  • Leads and mentors associate-level Platform Product Owners

 

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED? Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years working in IT
  • Minimum 12 years working in the platform
  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing medium to large projects or programs
  • Experience leading platform implementations required
  Additional Qualifications
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, analytical, planning, and scheduling skills
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as, strong presentation skills
  • Proven experience in demonstrating initiative in creating and maintaining positive business relationships with various unit managers
  • Program management experience with the ability to concurrently manage multiple projects and timeframes (Program for Senior and Principal)
  • Good knowledge of financial service industry preferred
  • Functional knowledge of Agile development practices

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? Compensation Starting base salary: $109,000 - $186,000 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
