Are you a strategic thinker who excels at building meaningful relationships and advancing city-building priorities? The Office of the City Clerk is seeking a dynamic Analyst to join our Council Protocol and External Relations team. In this pivotal role, you will help shape successful diplomacy, support official functions for the Mayor and Council, and strengthen the City's regional and global reputation. Working alongside Senior Advisors, you will synthesize complex information, support high-priority sponsorship and international relation efforts, and coordinate strategic projects from concept to execution. What will you do?

  • Research, synthesize, and analyze complex information to produce high-quality briefs, reports, presentations, and executive materials
  • Provide strategic coordination and support for city events,, international relations, and meetings with external partners
  • Guide project management initiatives and support committee administration, including the UNESCO Learning City Steering Committee
  • Establish, foster, and manage positive working relationships with internal teams, including the mayor and Council offices
  • Monitor and analyze trends that impact city priorities, with an emphasis on the City's  relationship-building efforts
  • Organize the team's administrative processes, including budget management, gifting inventory, and external relations databases
  • Support the team with high-profile initiatives such as international out-bound delegations, Edmonton Learning City network building, and strategic military community relations
  • Other related duties as required
Qualifications

  • University degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in strategic and operational business planning, corporate performance measures, and budgets
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and event management

Assets:

  • Project Management training/certification
  • Training or experience in facilitation, research methodologies, evaluation practices, information management, strategic foresight, or conflict resolution

Skills required for success:

  • Intermediate knowledge of primary and secondary research methods, data collection, trend analysis, and presentation design
  • Strong project management abilities with a proven track record of creating implementation plans and supporting process design
  • Ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively, tailoring communication styles to diverse audiences and executive leaders
  • Skill in establishing collaborative relationships, navigating complex dynamics, and building consensus through facilitation and negotiation
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace applications (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets)

Conditions of Employment:

  • Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement

Work Environment:

  • Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement, and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required

Salary Range: $41.177 - $51.444 (Hourly); $85,977.58 - $107,415.07 (Annually)
