Description
The Digital Forensics Section requires a self-motivated individual to ensure the proper handling and extraction of electronic devices, supporting the Technological Crimes Unit – Digital Forensic Services. Roles and responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the proper handling and extraction of electronic devices while preserving data integrity through detailed note-taking and formal report generation. Producing and verifying accurate forensic copies of electronic storage devices for examination and analysis.
- Determining the most appropriate methods for collecting, preserving, analyzing, and retaining original evidence.
- Liaising with requesting investigators and reviewing electronic requests.
- Accurately assessing judicial authorizations to ensure the units assistance is supported by lawful authority.
- Providing technical assistance to investigators in preparing warrants specific to their investigations.
- Maintaining all required documentation to support the Unit's forensic and investigative processes.
- Effectively communicating with all levels of the Edmonton Police Service, as well as with other law enforcement, government, and civilian agencies, as directed by the Sergeant in charge of the Technological Crimes Unit (TCU).
- Provide support and guidance to investigators in the review process of digital evidence prepared by the TCU Forensic Examiner.
- Responsible for administrative tasks such as restocking supplies, printing, organizing and maintaining equipment.
