What will you do?

  • Be a City media relations expert, supporting relationships with the media and providing strategic communications counsel to City staff on media products
  • Develop and implement short- and long-range internal and external communications strategies that align with corporate goals
  • Support the development and sustainment of the City's media relations centre of excellence
  • Create, edit and manage a wide variety of communications materials, including media releases, briefing notes, communications plans and digital content
  • Provide strategic communications counsel and tactical support to internal client groups and project teams
  • Coordinate timely and accurate responses to media inquiries and provide on-scene media relations support during news conferences and other events
  • Co-implement and facilitate City media spokesperson training
  • Provide on-site support for City news conferences
  • Identify emerging projects and implement strategies to protect and enhance the City's reputation
  • Monitor trends and potential issues that could impact the City's reputation
  • Responsible for quality assurance before release of media products, including fact-checking and collecting information from various clients areas to support the creation of media and communications products
