Description
The Exhibition Lands Project Lead serves as the primary champion and "development facilitator" for the City of Edmonton, overseeing the 30-year transformation of the Exhibition Lands into a sustainable, transit-oriented urban community in North Edmonton. This role is responsible for upholding the vision of the Planning Framework while managing complex internal and external partnerships to ensure the timely delivery of catalytic infrastructure and land sales.
The vision for the neighbourhood is captured in the Exhibition Lands Planning Framework which can be found at exhibitionlands.ca. This is a rare opportunity to bridge the gap between bold planning and concrete reality, evolving a strategically important and well located site into a sustainable, transit-oriented community that will define North Edmonton for generations.
What will you do?
- Uphold the mandate of the Implementation Strategy and manage the evolution of the project in response to market conditions, lessons learned, and Council priorities
- Provide clear direction on approaches in developing complex business and financial strategies in a broad framework
- Oversee the transition of City-owned lands from preparation (demolition and clearance) through to the selection of development partners and final sales
- Advise and provide recommendations to senior management on appropriate strategic and policy direction to guide decision-making relative to the Exhibition Lands project
- Act as the central point of contact for internal City departments to manage the day to day requirements on site including its interim use for festival delivery, property management and other interested party needs
- Work collaboratively to ensure the timely delivery of catalytic "City Building Projects," including new LRT stations, the reconfiguration of Borden Park, and potential future transformation of Wayne Gretzky Drive
- Manage the Invitation for Offers to Purchase (IFOP) process to select qualified development partners and collaborate to review development concepts for conformance with the Planning Framework
- Developing Council reports for the project including required performance reporting and information sharing. This role is also the media contact/spokesperson for all project related items
- Other related responsibilities
- Undergraduate degree in business administration, project management or other relevant degree with applicable professional designation or equivalent.
- A minimum of 9 years progressively responsible experience in land development, land planning, real estate transactions, business planning, budget development and management, financial analysis, research, performance measurement, operations management or process development.
- CFA, P.Eng, AACI, P.App, APPI or others that may be relevant
