This Geospatial Systems Analyst is a technical advisor and provides support services for the City's enterprise geospatial technologies and information, commonly referred to as GIS (Geographic Information Systems). This role provides support for the City's primary geospatial applications. Geospatial systems and data enable almost all services provided by the City, such as taxation, transit, waste management, parks and roadway management, and urban planning, making these technologies vital to the operation of many business areas. This position works with people from business units across the corporation to meet their GIS related business needs. This involves maintaining a good understanding of existing business processes that involve the acquisition, analysis, and distribution of location data, assisting in improving those processes, and helping develop new processes.
What will you do?
- Enhance and maintain the enterprise GIS platform to meet service levels and stay up to date with current technologies and geospatial capabilities
- Investigate, analyze, and resolve complex technical and data issues related to application development, data integration, and application performance and reliability
- Assist end users to provide them with a better client experience using GIS software solutions
- Build user-friendly and feature-rich applications and system integrations to meet business needs, participating in the full systems development lifecycle, from requirements definition through design to implementation and ongoing operation
