Reporting to the Director, Contract Strategy & Systems Solutions, the Manager, Contract Strategy is a key leader responsible for aligning the City of Edmonton contract framework with its overall strategic vision. This role is a vital connector, ensuring seamless integration and communication between Council, the Executive Leadership Team, and various internal partners. You will drive operational excellence and lead a team of leaders to ensure our contract management policies, procedures, and practices are cohesive and effective across the entire City. As a member of the Corporate Procurement and Supply Services (CPSS) Leadership Team, you will be accountable for optimizing the City's human, social, and technical systems to deliver measurable outcomes. This leadership position requires structured execution, strategic planning, and the ability to inspire a high-performing team.
What will you do?
- Provide leadership and strategic direction by fostering collaboration, both internally and externally, drive development of governance practices, contract and vendor management processes, contract negotiations skills, contract templates, tools and technology standards and training
- Collaborate with contract management teams throughout the organization to provide expert guidance and support for effective contract management, ensuring adherence to the predefined service level standards, policies and processes established for the City and the Branch
- Systematically identify and prioritize contract management needs, setting clear quantifiable targets for the number of needs identified and the extent to which resources are allocated to fulfill the City's requirements
- Continue to establish best-in-class contract management processes, procedures, and principles related to implementation of programs, governance, compliance and best management practices for the City to adopt that further grows maturity for contract management practices
- Continue to develop vision, strategies and operating principles to guide and influence work culture
- Continue to build healthy and positive work environments that enable the team to reach their potential while strengthening organizational capacity
