Description
The City of Edmonton is looking for a dedicated leader to join our Parks and Urban Forestry team as the Manager of Play Space and Amenity Services. In this vital role, you will be a key member of the Section Extended Leadership Team, helping to shape the strategy and operational success of our public spaces. You will lead a large, diverse team responsible for the maintenance and care of the structures that make our City vibrant, including playgrounds, skateparks, and spray parks. As the asset owner, you will ensure these spaces remain safe and welcoming for everyone who lives in and visits our community. We are seeking a professional who balances financial stewardship with a passion for people leadership and continuous improvement.
What will you do?
- Develop and implement annual program plans to meet approved service levels and budgets for play spaces, site furniture, and site servicing
- Lead and empower a year-round team of up to 130 unionized staff, fostering a culture of safety, excellence, and accountability
- Act as the subject matter expert and asset owner for playgrounds, spray parks, outdoor fitness areas, and skateparks
- Manage an annual operating budget of over $5 million, ensuring prudent financial use and accurate reporting
- Respond directly to community inquiries and Council requests, incorporating feedback into program improvements
- Oversee the delivery of minor renewals, rehabilitation, and maintenance according to national safety standards (CAN/CSA Z614)
- Collaborate with internal collaborators and external partners to ensure an integrated approach to service delivery
