Description

As the Procurement Technician, you will be responsible for managing assigned procurement projects for new vehicles and equipment. Working with the various user groups, you will interpret vehicle and equipment needs, create a proper technical scope of work and manage the procurement process.

This shall include conducting needs assessments, development of specifications, bid evaluations, recommendations to award contracts, and contract management. You will also be responsible for providing technical support on vehicle and equipment projects. Your position will maximize value for the City of Edmonton while appropriately controlling supplier risk throughout the contract lifecycle.

  • Understand project scope, timelines, spending, and budget
  • Obtain appropriate approvals from both delegated and expenditure authorities for procurements
  • Collaborate with operational areas to understand vehicle and equipment needs
  • Prepare technical specifications for vehicles and equipment based on the requirements of the operational areas
  • Collaborate with CPSS to develop requests for proposals, evaluate bids, and award contracts
  • Ensure all technical requirements and legislated codes and standards are represented in all specifications and scopes of work
  • Create key performance indicators (KPI's) and performance expectations for contracts
  • Review current contracts and incorporate lessons learned and changes to work for all new contracts
  • Understand and interpret the number of vendors per contract to use based upon previous experience, capacity and projected workloads
  • Knowledge of vendor compliance to contracts and current issues with existing vendors and contracts
  • Assists in budget preparation; develops schedule of procurements and provides updates
  • Follow all corporate, departmental and branch processes for procurement
  • Perform other related duties as required
