Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for driving impactful change? The Integrated Infrastructure Services Department is seeking a dynamic Senior Financial Analyst to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the reporting landscape of our capital projects, providing expert guidance, and leading key departmental initiatives. 

As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will be the subject matter expert for capital project reporting and controls, systems, and data integration. You will be involved in translating business financial requirements into clear reports and ensuring data integrity and quality assurance. What will you do?

  • Lead capital project reporting processes, providing direction and guidance to Project and Business Analysts
  • Act as the subject matter expert for project reporting and controls, systems, processes, and data integration
  • Lead and direct cross-departmental teams to ensure project success and enhance the maturity of project reporting and budgeting
  • Develop, implement, and monitor multiple projects, focusing on process and service delivery transformation
  • Manage projects related to department initiatives, collaborating with stakeholders at all levels
  • Develop, maintain, and seek out technological solutions for reporting, ensuring they meet requirements
  • Participate in and facilitate the capital budget process for the Department, including coordination of resources and information
  • Provide strategic business advice and support, staying informed on branch, department, and corporate issues related to project reporting, budgeting, and execution
  • Identify, implement, and monitor business process improvements
  • Develop and deliver solutions to improve the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of processes
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • University degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a related area with a focus on Accounting or Financial Management
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in strategic and operational budget planning

Assets:

  • Leadership and project management experience within a public sector environment

Skills required for success:

  • Considerable knowledge in project management, change management and project implementation
  • Experience developing new and improving of the existing processes, change management and stakeholder management
  • Strong skills in data tracking, recording, analyzing, interpreting, and formula creation
  • Strong ability to use analytics software including Google Suite, and Looker Studio
  • Considerable knowledge of SAP, COBS and eBuilder 
  • Strong critical thinking, consensus-building, and influencing skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of financial concepts such as variance reporting, basic accounting, and project management principles, Capital and Operating Budgets
  • Knowledge and experience creating financial procedures/processes, training materials and tools 
  • Ability to provide training, advice and direction to different audiences 
  • Knowledge of corporate policies and procedures associated with the scope of work
  • Ability to work with a diverse group across the Department and Corporation in an integrated and professional manner
  • Knowledge of financial controls

Work Environment:

  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement, and the incumbent will be notified in advance
  • This role works primarily in an indoor setting

Up to 1 temporary full-time position for up to 18 months  in accordance with Article 18.02 of the Collective Agreement

Hours of Work:  33.75 hours per week

Salary Range: $51.611 - $65.218 (Hourly); $90,925.680 - $114,897.810 (Annually)
