Are you a dynamic leader passionate about community recreation? We're seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Commonwealth Recreation Centre Supervisor - Site Coordination. Reporting to the Director of Commonwealth and Arenas, you will be directly responsible for providing leadership and management oversight for the overall site coordination of the recreation and sport facility operations at Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre. The Recreation Centre operation is integrated into the overall site on the Joe Clarke Athletic Grounds. This pivotal role involves supervising and managing approximately 100 staff in the aquatic facility, fitness centre, studios, gymnasium, sports fieldhouse and meeting rooms. Your role is to ensure safe, accessible, and customer-friendly activities, overseeing critical functions such as emergency planning, occupational health and safety, and strategic planning. What will you do?
- Lead and manage a large, diverse staff of approximately 100 operational employees, including recruitment, hiring, performance management, and addressing labor relations issues, of facility managers, team leaders, crew leaders, lifeguards, customer service, rental coordinators, and operations team
- Determine and manage staffing requirements, including assessing duties, reallocating resources, and making decisions on hiring, layoffs, and staff changes
- Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and collaboration, promoting health and wellness, safety, and leadership development
- Supporting all Commonwealth Stadium events as a member of the Event Command Centre team, supporting event operations, public safety, security, event services, and communications
- Provide timely decisions, direction, and support to facility staff, evaluating and adjusting workloads and priorities
- Provide leadership in growth and revenue development opportunities for programs, rentals and bookings including camps, lessons, afterschool programs, and other community initiatives
- Encourage and support staff development, offering training, enhancement opportunities, and empowering staff to make decisions
- Develop and implement business plans, performance indicators, and targets for recreation and sport facilities, including budget preparation and monthly performance reporting
- Manage facility operations budget, monitor revenues and expenditures, and prepare monthly financial variance reports and year-end budget projections
- Lead and support contingency planning and ensure facilities meet current safety standards and comply with legislation and regulations
- Oversee the Occupational Health and Safety program, Environmental Sustainability, including incident investigations, hazard assessments, and emergency procedures
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners, community groups, and commercial retail units including the professional football team and event producers
- Manage service agreements, leases, and contracts, and facilitate partnerships with various recreation organizations and stakeholders
- Ensure safe, secure, and environmentally responsive facilities, coordinating energy efficiency improvements and implementing environmental practices that are integrated with Commonwealth Stadium, Clarke Stadium and Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre
