The City of Edmonton is seeking a strategic Team Lead, Recruitment Services, for Employee Services. This role emphasizes high-level leadership, change management, and implementing corporate programs, moving beyond traditional recruitment. Leading a team of Consultants you will act as a project leader and strategic partner, aligning talent acquisition with City-wide business and equity goals. This is an opportunity to design innovative methodologies, cultivate diverse talent pipelines, and shape the workforce's future.
What will you do?
- Oversee and implement large-scale, complex recruitment strategies to address current and future workforce needs, including priority and hard-to-fill roles
- Lead a team of Recruitment Consultants through coaching, mentoring, and performance management to handle complex recruitment scenarios effectively
- Serve as a high-level advisor to business leaders on talent attraction, selection methodologies, and risk mitigation
- Manage key corporate programs, including the Student and Youth Recruitment Program, from process design through to execution
- Advance equity and inclusion to recruitment processes and implementing initiatives to reduce employment barriers
- Interpret collective agreement provisions and exercise independent judgment to resolve complex recruitment issues and selection disputes
- Cultivate partnerships with external organizations, such as post-secondary institutions and community groups, to build diverse talent pipelines
- Completion of a University Degree
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a senior-level recruitment or talent acquisition role. Including demonstrated experience in talent planning, leading high-impact recruitment projects, interpreting collective agreements and managing labour relations issues
- Two (2) years of experience in a formal supervisory or team leadership capacity
Skills required for success:
- Comprehensive understanding of full-cycle recruitment, employment legislation, City policies and Collective Agreements
- Ability to translate corporate strategies (e.g. GBA+, the Indigenous Framework) into measurable and compliant recruitment actions
- Proven supervisory skills with the ability to manage team performance, develop staff competencies, and foster a collaborative culture
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship building skills
- Superior skills for providing consultation to executive leadership and resolving escalations with Union partners
- Proficiency in using recruitment metrics and labor market intelligence to drive continuous improvement

Salary Range: $92,947 - $116,184 (Annually)
