Consider this opportunity as a Tow and Service Foreperson!

The Tow and Service Foreperson is the frontline leadership position overseeing the team of five (5) Auto Serviceperson II positions in the safe and timely execution of services to support Municipal Fleet Maintenance and client groups across the organization. 

In this safety-sensitive role, your composition of work will predominantly consist of towing and boosting services at 41%, along with preventative maintenance tasks at approximately 33%; the balance consists of deliveries and other supporting activities as required, such as: Tow truck operations, Vehicle servicing, Yard maintenance and shop cleaning, Equipment and vehicle deliveries, Routine and requested service on vehicles and equipment eg. minor inspections and oil changes

  • Model the way for a safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviors in support of the COE Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
  • Manage quality, quantity and safety ensuring that all requested service work is done safely and with the appropriate tools, personnel, planning and scheduling and that hazardous and potentially hazardous situations are identified, discussed and reviewed
  • Provide direct supervision to the Auto Serviceperson staff 
  • Triage incoming towing and delivery requests
  • Forecast based on established requirements and anticipate increased service activity 
  • Participate in recruitment tasks such as candidate selection and interviewing 
  • Direct and monitor the work performed in the facility; proactively manage costs and timelines
  • Understand client needs and ensure service levels are consistently met
  • Provide recommended action plans and options to the Facility Supervisor to prioritize the work in emergent situations
  • Identify and forecast daily staffing requirements, provide site orientation, provide information for shift design
  • Identify and coordinate documentation for tool requirements/requests and tool repairs and maintenance
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and champion organizational and operational change
  • Work collaboratively with controllers, forepersons, clerks and shop supervisors as well as all other members of the Branch
  • Other duties as assigned
