The Transit Delivery Supervisor is a crucial leadership position overseeing the smooth, daily operation of transportation services. What will you do?

  • Foster a culture of excellence by providing proactive leadership, mentorship, and professional development for a team of up to 180 Transit Operators
  • Champion employee well-being and success through active performance recognition, safety advocacy, and the supportive management of attendance and wellness programs
  • Support the integration of operational programs, collaborating with partners to facilitate citizen feedback loops, operator training enhancements, and health and safety initiatives
  • Enhance rider experience by providing timely, professional responses to inquiries and commendations, ensuring rider feedback informs and improves daily operations
  • Navigate a dynamic unionized environment by effectively managing operational resources and maintaining productive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Liaise across the organization, bridging the gap between frontline operations and various City of Edmonton sections to ensure integrated, reliable, and efficient service delivery
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Public Administration, or a related field is required. A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible supervisory experience within a unionized environment. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the transit or transportation industry

Skills required for success:

  • Expertise in Labor Relations and Policy Administration: Demonstrated knowledge of human resource management practices and issues, including sound labor relations principles, experience interpreting collective agreements, and conducting detailed workplace investigations in a unionized environment
  • Leadership and Team Development: Proven ability to direct and supervise staff, build strong teams, and develop individuals through effective coaching methods, resulting in teams achieving common goals, along with the willingness to delegate and empower others
  • Conflict Resolution and Communication: Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills with experience in solving complex and sensitive issues among multiple parties, supported by excellent verbal, written, listening, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Organizational and Administrative Acumen: Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multitask, manage time effectively, handle tight deadlines, and maintain confidentiality while exercising discretion and sound judgment, with the ability to effectively use Google Applications (GMail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.)

Conditions of employment & work environment:

  • Up to: 2 permanent full-time positions
  • Hours of work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday
  • Salary: $108,838.80 - $136,046.09 (Annually)
  • This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off)
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Possession of a Class 2 license with airbrakes is an asset.
  • Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit
  • The role may necessitate the use of personal transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with the City of Edmonton policy. This may require business auto insurance
  • Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement
