Join Community Standards (Complaints and Investigations) to enhance Edmonton's livability by ensuring community standards are maintained. This dynamic role involves inspecting and enforcing municipal bylaws and provincial legislation. Act as a public ambassador and change agent, solving problems independently and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to address community concerns with a respectful, inclusive, and service-minded approach.
What will you do?
- Conduct proactive and community-initiated investigations to enforce the Weed Control Act. Perform inspections on private and public property to ensure compliance regarding safety, mobility, and regulated weed enforcement
- Maintain highly detailed and accurate records of all investigations, including officer notes and evidentiary photographs
- Use autonomous judgment and officer discretion to vary enforcement approaches based on the specific needs of a situation
- Organize and prioritize daily case files to ensure timely follow-ups and forward momentum on all investigations
- Provide education to community partners regarding bylaws, legislation, and enforcement policies
- Attend court proceedings to provide professional evidence in support of investigations
