Reporting to the Natural Area Operations Ecologist, the Wildfire Technician will play a crucial role in maintaining the ecological health of our natural spaces and ensuring compliance with the City of Edmonton's environmental standards. This role requires effective management of tasks and time, along with strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.

In this role, you can expect to;

  • Actively assess areas for wildfire risk and recommend fuel mitigation treatments
  • Coordinate fuel mitigation treatments with internal operations and contractors
  • Collect data in the field with GIS Software 
  • Work with the Wildfire and Urban Forest Technicians to confirm timing and priority of sites requiring assessment
  • Communicate with stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective fuel mitigation
  • Conduct wildfire and restoration monitoring and share recommendations 
  • Ensure compliance with safety and ENVISO requirements
  • Respond to public complaints or inquiries, orally or in writing
  • Perform other related work, as required
