A Day in the Life of a Referral Coordinator The Referral Coordinator is a pivotal administrative role that involves accurate routing and scheduling of patient referrals as prescribed by healthcare providers. This position acts as a crucial liaison among patients, medical staff, and external agencies, ensuring fluid communication and the seamless transfer of necessary medical records and insurance verifications. Challenges include maintaining meticulous attention to detail in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Collaboration is frequent, involving various clinical departments to coordinate care and manage patient information effectively. The role requires adherence to HIPAA standards and a commitment to high-quality customer service and confidentiality in handling patient information.

 

About the Health Information Management Department Managing Health Information with Excellence In the Health Information Management (HIM) Department at CRMC, we ensure that medical records are accurate, secure, and accessible to the payors, providers and patients who rely on them. Our team specializes in coding, data integrity, transcription, release of information, and referral coordination, playing a vital role in supporting clinical decision-making, billing accuracy, and compliance with healthcare regulations. We work behind the scenes to ensure that every diagnosis, procedure, and treatment plan is documented correctly, making healthcare safer and more efficient for everyone. Our efforts ensure that providers have the information they need to deliver high-quality care and that patients can trust the accuracy of their medical records. Whether managing electronic health records, processing referrals, sending requested records, coding or ensuring regulatory compliance, we take pride in the behind-the-scenes work that keeps healthcare running smoothly.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required
  • Successful completion of data entry and general clerical standards as administered by Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Human Resources Staff
  • Associates degree in healthcare -OR- related field and prior experience in a clinic setting
Preferred
  • Experience with patient referral

 

Compensation and Benefits The pay range is listed above. Actual pay rate offered is determined based on experience in this role. Please be sure to include all applicable experience in your application.
