A Day in the Life of an RN Sedation Nurse

This RN Sedation Nurse role centers on administering and monitoring moderate sedation during interventional spine procedures in both surgical and clinic settings. The nurse ensures patient safety through vigilant monitoring and accurate documentation, while strictly following AORN and CRMC sedation protocols. The position involves frequent collaboration with surgeons, clinic staff, and sales representatives to support seamless procedures. Challenges include managing sedation-related risks and communicating effectively across varied clinical and non-clinical interactions. Work hours align with scheduled procedures and may include after-hours calls to support patient needs.

  • Confident with moderate sedation protocols

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required
  • Current RN license in the State of Minnesota
  • BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in acute care, procedural, perioperative, or emergency settings
  • Completion of CRMC-approved moderate sedation training and annual competency validation per AORN guidelines
Preferred
  • Prior moderate sedation or procedural nursing experience
  • Familiarity with interventional spine and orthopedic procedures
  • Comfort with patient and community outreach activities and communicating with industry representatives

 

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range listed above is the estimated starting pay range for this role. Actual pay rate offered depends on many factors including each individual employee's experience level, preferred education/certifications, along with market conditions.
