A Day in the Life of an RN Student - Summer Internship Program
As a Nursing Intern at our facility, you will engage in comprehensive, supervised patient care, operating within the best practices established by our nursing protocols. Your role involves close collaboration with an RN Preceptor to develop and implement detailed care plans, even including the careful administration of medications and support in diagnostic test procedures. You'll encounter a variety of departments such as Med/Surg, ER, ICU, and OB, gaining exposure to the breadth of hospital-based nursing care. Challenges include adapting quickly to different healthcare environments and managing the emotional and physical demands of a fast-paced medical setting. Your professional growth will be continuously supported through participation in educational workshops, in-service training, and regular performance feedback sessions.
About the Med/Surg Department:

In the Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) Department at CRMC, we provide expert, compassionate care for a diverse range of patients. As the largest department in the hospital, our nurses and clinical staff are highly skilled in managing complex medical conditions, surgical recovery, pain management, and patient education, ensuring that every individual receives personalized, high-quality care throughout their hospital stay. Our team balances clinical expertise with adaptability, caring for a variety of medical needs while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, comfort, and recovery. Qualifications
Education and Experience Required
- Enrolled in nursing program (a contract between CRMC and the college will need to be established if not already in place)
- A letter of recommendation from an instructor
- Completed junior year of college or have at least one semester of medical-surgical training
- American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire
- Nursing Intern will need to provide CRMC with a list of procedures and tasks they cannot perform as a student
- BSN program
Compensation and Benefits
The pay range listed above is the estimated starting pay range for this role. Actual pay rate offered depends on many factors including each individual employee's experience level, preferred education/certifications, along with market conditions.
