Summary:

The Community Based Therapist (Mental Health Professional/MHP) is responsible for providing mental health treatment services to individuals and their families to support them in achieving an optimal level of functioning and meet their individualized goals. Therapeutic services are provided in the home, school, and community settings.

This position is part of our Youth Firesetting Assessment Consultation Treatment Services (YFACTS) program.

Full-time position (40 hrs/wk) Monday to Friday - Day hours with 2 to 3 evenings per week as needed.

Clinical supervision hours for employees seeking licensure.

Works closely with other clinicians throughout initial training. Training includes Youth Firesetting Intervention Specialist (YFIS) Level 1 certification within 6 months of hire.

Travel within Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Perry counties to provide services to families.

The MHP reports directly to the Program Director.

Wage Information:

Starting salary (negotiable based on relevant experience): Unlicensed - $50,000/yr., Licensed - $52,000/yr. CSG is offering a $2,500 sign-on bonus to be paid at the successful completion of the 3-month probationary period.

Job Description:

  • Enhances the quality of the individuals' lives and their integration into the community by supporting established goals, and community integration.
  • Ability to conceptualize, plan and facilitate individual, caregiver, and family therapy sessionswith children, adolescents, and families in the home, school, and community settings.
  • Performs clinical assessments and develops/implements treatment plans.
  • Completes all daily, weekly, and monthly records i.e., treatment plans, progress notes, crisis plans, etc.
  • Willing to learn and model the five principles of trauma informed care; safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment.
  • Commitment to promote cultural, racial, language and gender access, diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Provides treatment services to families including therapy, skills training, and education designed to enable families to care for their child experiencing difficulties with mental health in the home.
  • Works closely with other mental health specialists, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, case managers, psychiatric nurses, school counselors, and behavioral health providers.
  • Completes comprehensive assessments including a comprehensive Fire Risk Assessment to assess motivation for fire setting.
  • Participates in regular clinical supervision and continued educational activities to further develop professional skills. Will complete Youth Firesetting Intervention Specialist (YFIS) Level 1 certification following hire as available in PA.
  • Works closely with Fire Science and Safety Consultant (FSSC) and other community team members to assure safety in the home.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population both orally and in writing, to include written reports and documentation of treatment information.

Qualifications:

This position requires one of the following combinations of education and experience:

Have a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth or young adults AND a graduate degree with at least nine credits specific to clinical practice in psychology, social work or counseling from an accredited college or university or an equivalent degree from a foreign college or university, OR

Have completed a clinical or mental health direct service practicum and have a graduate degree with at least nine credits specific to clinical practice in psychology, social work, education, counseling or a related field from an accredited college or university or have an equivalent degree from a foreign college or university.
