Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics is home to the largest laboratory in NH, providing Pathology and Clinical Laboratory services to DHMC & Clinics physician practices, Dartmouth Health system member hospitals as well as to independent practices and hospitals throughout NH and VT. The Business Manager for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine facilitates the Operating and Capital Budgeting processes and the Billing Compliance and Business Planning needs for all of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Services.

This is a full-time, 40-hour/week hybrid position. #LI-Hybrid


Responsibilities
  1. Leads Operating and Capital Budgeting process with Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Leadership and the Finance department liaison.
  2. Develops, monitors and shares awareness of key financial and business metrics/scorecards, preparing and displaying data concerning operations, improvement initiatives and system changes with Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Leadership.
  3. Assists in developing business and strategic planning by preparing financial analyses for new programs in Pathology & Laboratory Medicine.
  4. Monitors and leads changes in CPT codes and departmental technical and professional charge masters. Recommends new and revised CPT codes and Clinic and Hospital fees. Makes changes internally to reflect changing payor requirements. Tracks physician and hospital fee reimbursement. Provides recommendations for improvement and compliance.
  5. Works with Revenue Management, coders and financial resources to ensure accurate billing, rapid turn-around and tracking of volumes, expenses, etc.
  6. Prepares, monitors, and reports the status of operations, revenue, personnel, and capital. Keeps accurate records as they pertain to these budgets and other fiscal programs to maximize revenues and minimize operating costs/expenses.
  7. Organizes, develops, maintains and analyzes a variety of data bases and data systems (e.g., volumes, expenses, coding levels) to maintain a comprehensive, current set of information for the purpose of tracking and improving operations and system process changes.
  8. Works in partnership with the Pathology Outreach Manager on outreach activities including financial arrangements, contracts, billing and coding.
  9. Performs operational, financial, practice and personnel management functions for the department/sections.
  10. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of relevant business or supervisory/management experience, preferably in a health care environment required.
  • Master's degree in business administration or health administration or related clinical science field preferred.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, oral and writing skills required.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Previous healthcare finance background preferred.
  • Knowledge of computerized information systems, graphing and statistics.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and analytical.
  • Excellent networking and oral /written communication skills with the ability to relate and deal effectively with physicians, administrators, support staff and the general public with tact and discretion
