We have a comprehensive sleep program including sleep disorders clinics and the opportunity to teach sleep fellows from UC Davis, 6 beds for overnight polysomnography, robust home sleep testing, in-house CPAP/DME program, and a very collegial group of physicians, nurse practitioners, techs and excellent admin support. VA Northern California Health Care System is looking for Neurologist trained in Sleep Medicine to join our team supporting our Stockton VA Community Based Clinic by providing tele-medicine from the Sacramento VA Medical Center as well as periodic on-site care in Stockton.

Qualified physician will diagnose, treat, and manage patients with neurological disorders appropriate for a general neurology practice, as well as sleep disorders including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, REM behavior disorder, periodic limb movement disorder and others. Physician must know how to prescribe initial positive airway pressure (PAP) settings, evaluate, and manage all modalities of PAP including making necessary changes to pressure settings, evaluation, and management of sleep-related ventilatory disorders. Physician must be familiar with the interpretation of sleep studies and sleep oximetry. The candidate should be comfortable with providing telemedicine care modalities including video and telephone, across several geographical clinic locations. Travel beyond the primary job location to the Stockton clinic is periodically required. Responsibilities include inpatient consultation, outpatient clinic, sleep study procedure interpretation, and on-call coverage in general neurology. The candidate will work closely with the team of other Neurologists as well as with support staff including nurse practitioners and medical technicians.

Candidate must be: 1) US Citizen or PRA, 2) Board Eligible/Certified in Neurology, 3) Have a full, unrestricted medical license in any State, and 4) confirm vaccination for seasonal influenza and Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) which are both requirements for all Health Care Personnel (HCP) employed by Department of Veterans Affairs. Preferred experience: Preference is given to individuals with experience in VA systems and strong familiarity with general neurology and sleep medicine, including management of PAP and interpretation of home sleep testing and polysomnography studies.
