The Highlights: As part of the Office of Student Involvement at DePaul University, the Assistant Director for Esports oversees and creates the strategic vision for DePaul's Esports program, which is comprised of 1300+ students who participate at a recreational level and 175+ students who participate on one of DePaul's 30+ competitive teams. This position will lead efforts around Esports that strategically enhance campus life and student engagement to build community, connectedness and student learning at DePaul. The Assistant Director will report to the Director of Student Involvement within the Division of Student Affairs. This position will supervise the Coordinator for Esports, manage two Gaming Centers, supervise student staff in the Esports program, and facilitate other Esports initiatives, including overseeing DePaul's Esports recruitment efforts of new students to DePaul. This position will also foster direct connections with other interested areas with a focus on academic units that support and amplify the experience of student gamers at DePaul.
What You'll Do:
- Oversee and set the strategic vision for DePaul's Esports program. Oversight of the program includes direct personnel supervision of the Esports Coordinator (pending position) and members of the Esports Student Leadership Team, with indirect supervision of a graduate assistant and various student leader roles. Provide support to DePaul's competitive teams via designated student captains and coaches
- Manage the day to day operations of the Esports Gaming Center and the Competitive Teams Center
- Serve as the main point of contact and representative for DePaul Esports for recruitment events in the Chicagoland area and online via Discord. Serve as the main liaison between DePaul Esports and Admissions by utilizing Slate and other DePaul platforms.
- Facilitate academic connections for the Esports program, including coordinating logistics and marketing efforts for the Esports Summer Camp.
- Serve as a representative to the BIG EAST Esports Committee and coordinate DePaul's participation in multiple titles in the conference. Work collaboratively to advance Esports in the BIG EAST Conference.
- Serve as a member of the Student Involvement Manager Team. Collaborate on various Student Involvement, divisional and university committees and projects.
- Direct supervision of Esports Coordinator and various student staff. Indirect supervision of graduate assistant and additional members of the Esports Student Leadership Team.
- Responsible for a budget totaling up to $75,000. Responsible for negotiation of contracts up to $10,000.
- Bachelor's degree, required.
- At least three to five years of professional experience advising college students and organizations and working with diverse populations required (two years of graduate experience will equate to one year of professional experience).
- Experience with a collegiate Esports program strongly, preferred.
- Experience supervising others, preferred.
- Masters degree in student affairs, higher education, college student personnel, counseling or related field preferred.
- Ability to facilitate leadership development and conversations with student leaders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; demonstrate initiative.
- Ability to engage collaboratively with departmental team and university areas.
- Ability to effectively communicate with students and colleagues in writing, verbally, and in presentations.
- Ability to develop professional relationships and engage collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and university partners.
- Ability to plan large-scale events with attention to detail and multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to develop effective training sessions and modules for large groups of student leaders.
