POSITION SUMMARY
This role assists the Health Care Coordinator with administrative duties of the wellness department. Additional duties may include; ordering supplies, med cart audits, tracking lab orders, assisting with the preparation of required document prior to in house physician visits, assisting with resident file organization, Memory Care Safety Room checks, scheduling and finding replacements for call offs.
The Lead Care/Medication Technician role also includes providing hands on care, medication administration, physical and emotional support to each resident while maintaining a safe and comfortable home like environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Medication Care Manager
- Reviews service plan to learn pertinent information about residents.
- Assists/observes medications and treatments for each resident using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
- Documents and initials form as medications are given including appropriate documentation for refusal or missed doses.
- Maintains confidentiality of all resident information including resident medication.
- Reports all resident concerns made while assisting resident with the medication to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator (HCC).
- Restocks medication cart after all medication passes.
- Assists in checking medication regardless of packaging system.
- Counts all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
- Maintains and cleans the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness cleanliness, availability of medications and expired medications.
- Follows re-fill process for medications.
- Participates in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates.
- Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse and respiration rates.
- Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks and hazardous chemicals immediately.
Lead
- Scheduling and documenting team member call off records.
- Rotating on-call with Director of Health and Wellness.
- Assists with ordering supplies.
- Assists with Med Cart audits.
- Tracks and monitors lab orders.
- Assists with the preparation of required document prior to in house physician visits.
- Conducts Memory Care Room safety checks.
- MAR monthly reconciliations.
- Entering Lab orders for draw days.
- Coordinating training and orientation days for new team members.
- Thinning charts and filing medical records per regulatory guidelines.
- Assisting the Health Care Coordinator with care manager and medication technician evaluations.

Educational Requirements and Experience:
- Certified Nurse's Aid certification/Qualified Medication Aid certification
- High School diploma/GED
- Must be 18 years of age.
- CPR Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively speaking the primary language of the residents.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write in required logs and routine correspondence.
- Ability to add and subtract whole numbers.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Interacts with guests, residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Responds promptly to resident needs.
