Job Details:General Summary:
The Merchandising Analytics and Business Intelligence Analyst plays a critical role in supporting Dollar General's Merchandising organization through data analysis, reporting, and collaboration with various teams. This position is responsible for guiding data-driven decisions by ensuring accuracy in promotional materials, providing actionable insights to optimize advertising and merchandising strategies, and identifying opportunities to enhance processes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Weekly Reporting and Performance Analysis: Generate weekly reports that measure the profitability and success of advertisements. Identify opportunities for improvement and share findings with key stakeholders.
- Data Accuracy and Verification: Review promotional materials to ensure data accuracy and identify errors. Work with teams to correct discrepancies before materials are finalized.
- Promotional Planning and Analysis: Prepare monthly promotional plans by analyzing competitor activity, historical performance, and product trends. Collaborate with team members to provide recommendations for improving promotional layouts.
- Dashboard Management: Maintain and update dashboards with performance data to provide accurate and up-to-date insights. Communicate with data providers to resolve issues and ensure data quality.
- Team Collaboration and Communication: Participate in meetings to present findings to supervisor and VP, share recommendations, and answer questions related to promotional performance. Build strong working relationships with internal teams.
- Ad Hoc Support and Analysis: Assist with special projects and provide support for process improvements as needed. Assist the Merchandising Analytics Decision Support team with requests. Collaborate with teams to address technical issues or additional data requests.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., pivot tables, XLOOKUP, data modeling), and familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI), reporting software, and the ability to manage and update dashboards.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and draw actionable conclusions.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and identify errors.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively share insights and collaborate with others.
- Marketing Knowledge: Understanding of marketing principles and promotional strategies.
- Merchandising Knowledge: Understanding of merchandising principles and decision support.
- Process Improvement: Ability to evaluate current processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Work Experience &/or Education:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Data Analytics, or a related field is required. MBA is a plus.
- Experience: 1–2 years of experience in data analysis, merchandising, marketing, or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with reporting tools and data visualization platforms is a plus.
