Job Details:

Responsible for validating and approving correct billing and payments for inventory service providers, and for performing financial journal entries and preparing period close accruals. Responsible for overseeing the physical inventory schedule process and ensuring all physical inventories are scheduled and taken within Dollar General's parameters, which requires frequent communication and partnership with other departments and inventory service vendors.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Drives continuous improvement of scheduling and day of inventory processes with key business partners, inventory accounting, and inventory service partners. Ability to data mine, identify problems and areas of improvement, develop actionable steps and execute recommended changes. 15%
  • Produces financial and operational reporting and analysis related to department for leadership advisement. Includes in-depth analysis and recommendation on improvement of metrics related to third-party inventory service(s). 15%
  • Maintains documentation related to physical inventory processes, updating and communicating timely to various departments as needed. Provides expert advice on escalations and complex issues for day of inventory events. 15
  • Monitors inventory service invoice payments for accuracy and timeliness. Reviews exceptions from inventory service invoices. Completes period close tasks including journal entries and accruals. 10%
  • Produces and analyzes inventory schedule compliance. Works closely with inventory service scheduler to solve for inventory schedule issues. Works closely with field leadership to troubleshoot any inventory schedule issues. 45%

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): 

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word; experience with database applications a plus
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly and suggest improvements to current processes
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize to resolve issues
  • Ability to approach issues with an analytical and global mindset
Qualifications:

Work Experience &/or Education: 

 

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business, finance, accounting, etc. or 3-5 years' relevant experience may be substituted
• Retail work experience a plus
• Prior experience with data analytics and continuous improvement preferred.
