Reports to the Education & Training Director and is a salaried, exempt position. Plans, directs, and supervises the operation of the Career Technical Training department. Demonstrates on-going commitment to preparing young people for the workforce by modeling, mentoring, and monitoring excellence in the eight Career Success Standards of: workplace relations and ethics; information management; communications; multicultural awareness; personal growth and development; career and personal planning; interpersonal skills and independent living.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Demonstrates and abides by Eckerd Connects Core Values and operating principles.
  •  Adheres to all aspects of Covenant Learning Solution's (CLS) Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Plans, directs, and supervises the activities of the Career Technical Training department. 
  • Ensures Job Corps approved curricula is being taught in individual classrooms. Supervises procurement and use of supplemental materials, including multi-media equipment and materials. Oversee online learning platforms in the classrooms and maximize the utilization as it relates to subject matter.
  • Optimize student enrollment in Career Technical Training
  • Projects and plans for instructional needs. Ensures proper teaching methods are employed for subject areas being taught.
  • Plans and administers departmental budget.
  • Assesses personnel needs and works with the Human Resources department to screen and interview potential staff members. Approves promotions, transfers, and merit evaluations within the department. Conducts and prepares performance appraisals.
  • Prepares and submits required reports. Ensures proper records on students' progress, performance, etc. are maintained by the instructors and proper record of students' attendance is maintained by the Career Technical Training Department.
  • Formulates proposals and makes recommendations to the Education and Training Director on all changes in policies and procedures pertaining to the Career Technical Training Department.
  • Analyzes data from questionnaires, interviews, group discussions, etc., to evaluate curricula, teaching methods and community participation in vocational and other programs.
  • Ensures departmental employment and affirmative action departmental objectives and goals are met.
  • Attends required staff training sessions.
  • Supports Student Proficiency in the Career Success Standards 
  • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property, adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
  • Cultivates and maintains a Campus climate that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • Performs WBL oversight and coordination.
  • Coordinates Workforce Council (Required 2 times per year)
  • Maintain relationships with National Training Contractors (NTC)
  • Ensure all CTT Instructors deliver accommodations in the classroom when necessary.
  • Update the Training Report in CIS to update the CTT slot utilization (weekly).  Ensure this information is shared with Outreach and Admission TEAM and records staff to inform new students regarding appropriate CTT openings and programs available. 
  • Perform Career Preparation Presentations for new enrollees. 
  • Encourage participation in Student Experience Survey (SEA)
  • Perform weekly CTST site visits/reviews and reports. Convene monthly full project management CTST Meetings and weekly CTST project progress status stand-up meeting.  Monthly Perform CTST Expenditures Review.    
  • Conducts Case Note Audits & Perform regular E-TAR review for active students.  
  • Conducts Formal Classroom & Shop observations
  • Monitors Student Industry Recognized Credentialing 
  • Upholds Tool Accountability Policy
  • Promotes Safeguarding of Property Inventory
  • Promotes all Safety Procedures such as OSH standards
  • Conduct department staff meetings with an agenda and meeting minutes following, documenting delegated assignments, directives, and discussions.  Adheres to required PRH training. Departmental training is vital.  Develop opportunities for staff to become knowledgeable in Job Corps Policies and Procedures.  Maintain sign-in sheets for training and staff meetings.  Distribute meeting minutes to all team members.  
  • Manage substitute pool & ensure all CTT areas are fully covered during scheduled and unscheduled instructor absences.
  • Develop CTT Continuous Improvement Plan (CTT-CIP) Documentation for Low Performing CTT Program Offerings (if needed)
  • Develops a planned orientation program for new instructors and provides for in-service training of all departmental staff. 
  • Ability to navigate the Microsoft Suite of Applications at a high level.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in work-related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. 
  • Two years of experience to include one year in a supervisory capacity preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.  
  • High level of communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and computer proficiency.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle several projects simultaneously with decision-making, flexibility, and problem-solving.

Additional Requirements: Sound working knowledge of Career Technical Training programs. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to inspire and motivate staff. Must be able to compose descriptive reports. Ability to utilize appropriate techniques to implement program activities. Ability to verbally direct individuals and groups; remedy dysfunctional behavior; intervene with students in crisis with aggression control/ safe physical management restraint techniques. Successfully complete mandated training courses. Ability to effectively relate to trainee population. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification. Position requires an ability to operate office equipment. In addition, an individual must be able to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments. 

Pay starting at $17.20 per hour
