Eckerd Connects

Reports to the Academic Manager and is a salaried, exempt position. Performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area. Demonstrates on-going commitment to preparing young people for the workforce by modeling, mentoring, and monitoring excellence in the eight Career Success Standards of: workplace relations and ethics; information management; communications; multicultural awareness; personal growth and development; career and personal planning; interpersonal skills and independent living.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates and abides by Eckerd Connects Core Values and operating principles.
  • Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation.
  • Meets SMART Goals established by management every Program Year.
  • Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning.
  • Instructs on the Driver's Education curriculum in accordance with the Job Corps requirements and program specifications.
  • Provide classroom and behind-the-wheel Driver Education instruction for students designed to help each student meet the requirements to obtain a driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
  • Provide and implement an instruction plan that provides for classroom instruction consisting of the approved textbook, the North Carolina Driver's manual, audio visuals and other educational media in accordance with North Carolina General Laws pertaining to Driver Education.
  • Provide classroom training that includes, but is not limited to, such topics as vehicle systems, driving in traffic, safety regulations and traffic laws. Document and maintain student's permanent record, including date of entry, date of completion of classroom training and date learner's permit/driver's license was obtained, and provide a monthly status report of all students participating in the program.
  • Counsels and motivates students regarding behavior, training, personal and/or study habits and problems.
  • Develops and prepares supplemental lessons and recommends curricula changes.
  • Individualizes the Driver's Education curriculum to fit the students' experiences.
  • Responsible for seeing that security measures are taken, and equipment and supplies are cared for.
  • Prepares reports such as student/staff hours, requisitions, and monthly student evaluations.
  • Maintains classroom environment (behavior and surroundings) conductive to learning.
  • Attends required staff training sessions.
  • Adheres to all aspects Adheres to all aspects of Covenant Learning Solutions' Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills including personal responsibility and computer fluency.
  • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property, adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
  • Cultivates and maintains a Campus climate that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • Ability to navigate the Microsoft Suite of Applications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certified, licensed, or accredited in the state in which the center is located or is accredited by a professional trade organization. (RO may waive if center is unable to hire certified or licensed instructors, but candidates must pursue certification)
  • Valid driver's license in the state of employment with acceptable driving record required.

Additional Requirements: Knowledge of required subject area. Ability to transfer topical knowledge to meet specific learning objectives fluently in English. Ability to compose descriptive reports. Able to use appropriate techniques to implement programmatic activities. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. Ability to motivate and inspire students and effectively relate to the trainee population. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Position requires an ability to operate household appliances and drive an automobile. In addition, an individual must be able to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments.

Pay starting at $17.20 per hour
