Hourly Rate: $19.00-$20.00

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Confers with customers by telephone or in person to provide information about SLOCAL Careers services.
  • Assist clients and customers with creation and/or access to CalJOBs. 
  • Understands and communicates SLOCAL Careers policies, procedures, customer flow, and program services.
  • Communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, share information, and assist in complaint resolutions, if needed, the concerns are brought to the local manager.
  • Determines customers' needs and recommends/refers them to appropriate SLOCAL Careers services or community resources based on individual need.
  • Reviews available schedules of services and arranges/confirms appointments for customers.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of community services and resources available to customers and makes referrals as appropriate.
  • Sets up and manages paper or electronic filing systems, records information, updates paperwork, and maintains documents such as schedules, event calendars, attendance records, and other tracking materials.
  • Assist in providing supervision and direction for volunteers and paid or unpaid WEX clients. 
  • Creates and maintains monthly bulletin boards with timely and pertinent information about the SLOCAL Careers Center.
  • Facilitates customer use of available technology (e.g., phones, computers) and maintains order in shared service areas. 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in customer service preferred.
  • Must have appropriate and valid state driver's license. 
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy. Eckerd Connects adheres to California law CA A.B. 2188 regarding employer drug screening, for California residents.

About Our Workforce Programs

Eckerd Connects provides Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services through contracts with the U.S. Department of Labor and local workforce boards, partnerships, and strategies to provide and create a career pathway for youth, adults, and dislocated workers.  Training services include occupational skills training, customized training, on-the-job training, incumbent worker training, and transitional employment opportunities.  We provide youth with development, academic instruction, career & technical education, and access to the 14 WIOA Youth Elements. We establish and develop relationships and networks with large and small employers and their intermediaries as well as develop, convene, or implement industry or sector partnerships.
