Hourly Rate: $20.00
*This is a temporary part-time intern position with an estimated start of May 2025
*Part-time 20 hours per week during regular business hours
Duties & Responsibilities
Interns will observe and learn to:
- Assist with coordination and facilitation of prevention services activities and support with resource development and communication to enhance the delivery of outreach services to the community and identified youth in services.
- Attend and present at community events to increase visibility within the community as well as assist in set up and break down of those events.
- Support the Community Outreach team with effective strategies for under-served communities, including those: in recovery, impacted by the opioid crisis, at-risk of homelessness and at -risk for substance abuse and other negative life changes. This includes but is not limited to research and maintaining resource information that will be shared via Eckerd Connects resource guide.
- Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from outreach activity in a timely fashion.
- Co-facilitate summer program services at designated sites, as well as documents attendance and maintains files for this purpose.
- Administer surveys, pre/post assessments and other evaluation tools as required for tracking outcome measures.
- Maintain program data entry into the data system required by program funder (PBPS, etc.) and EHR (Eckerd Connects' electronic health record) through accurate and timely input of referrals, client demographics, billing attendance, event, and testing data.
- Attend and actively participate in local community coalition meetings, events and contract requirements along with other local related collaborations.
Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Must be presently enrolled in a College, University, Technical, Vocational, or Certification Program.
- Good analytical skills, ability to communicate well, ability to foster and work within participatory management. Strong organizing and planning skills.
- Must have appropriate and valid state driver's license and be able to meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes.
- Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.

About Our Program:
Eckerd Connects' Prevention/Intervention Counseling services are provided to all students in Grade 3 – 6, through individual or group counseling which combines character education with evidence-based substance abuse and violence prevention interventions. Evidenced-based Substance Abuse Prevention Curricula is taught in group settings, aimed at building, and strengthening students' social skills, impulse control, decision making, and self-esteem, and delivered through weekly sessions which include role playing, modeling, thematic art projects, conflict resolution games and recreational activities. Students in need of more intensive interventions receive additional individualized counseling. Additionally, the program involves students in community service projects that relate to their specific intervention plans and goals.
School Based prevention services provide prevention education to students through a Universal Resiliency model called Hi-Five. This is a multicomponent program that combines school-based prevention and intervention practices specifically designed to promote young people's resiliency. The Hi-Five program provides students with opportunities to contribute to their school and community and experience the satisfaction, sense of belonging and enhanced motivation that comes from such involvement.
