Job Summary:
Under general supervision, and according to well defined policies and procedures, interviews patients and/or patients' representatives to obtain necessary personal, demographic and financial information and identification. Performs routine clerical, secretarial and administrative work in answering telephones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance, data processing, computer data entry, document preparation, correspondence, scheduling and other record keeping tasks related to the practice including but not limited to the patient registration related activities within the registration areas. This position assists with flow of patients from the waiting area to exam rooms and perform preparatory work on patients to ensure efficient use of the physician's time. 

Experience with medical terminology and practice management systems preferred.

Job Essentials: The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements and competencies.

  • Minimum three years' of registration or related clerical/health care experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with professional appearance.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • Clerical, data entry and typing skills including filing and record keeping required.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment that has frequent changes in priorities.
  • Flexibility and ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to complete needed tasks with speed and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Post high school courses in insurance billing, data processing and medical terminology preferred.
  • One year of prior experience in billing of third-party insurances for facility and professional services required.
  • Knowledge of third-party billing requirements.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions and perform basic arithmetic calculations in order to prepare, review and submit bills to Third Party Payers.
  • Knowledge of current federal and state billing regulations.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
