Position DescriptionENSCO is seeking a Project Manager to manage projects and programs offering engineering, testing, research and training services to the railway industry in the areas of track, rolling stock, signals and communications, and human factors.
Projects may involve a variety of efforts including
- Rolling stock testing such as ride quality, braking performance, vehicle dynamics and vehicle acceptance tests.
- Vehicle and track component evaluations
- Signal and communications testing
- Ergonomics and human factors
Participation in these efforts may include:
- Writing test plans, test reports and briefings
- Build and manage test project schedule with customer.
- Analyze test data and evaluate according to industry standards.
- Development of price quotes
- Coordination of logistics and on-site activities
- Oversight of profit and loss of projects
- Review of invoices
- Serving as a point of contact with internal and external project stakeholders
- Managing project teams including work assignments, budget management and administrative activities
Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related field)
• 5+ years of experience in railway engineering, testing, or related fields
• Experience in project management, including scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating test data and ensuring compliance with industry standards
• Proficiency in writing technical reports, test plans, and briefings
• Ability to coordinate logistics, on-site testing, and operational activities
• Experience managing profit and loss for projects
• Strong communication and leadership skills for managing project teams and client interactions
Candidates must be able to safely climb a 15-foot-high ladder to access railroad cars. They must adhere to all safety and security procedures, assess situations requiring action beyond standard guidelines, and report any potentially unsafe conditions. Proper use of equipment and materials is required. This role may require up to 10% travel
Railroad regulations require that the selected candidate must pass an e-RAILSAFE security background check and online safety tests to work on railroad properties. Wearing safety equipment (hardhat, steel-toe boots, protective vest, and protective eyeglasses) when working on railroad properties is also a requirement. ENSCO will provide all necessary safety equipment.
Qualifications Desired:
• Master's degree in Engineering or related field
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Experience with railway industry standards (e.g., FRA, APTA, AREMA, or IEEE)
• Hands-on experience with rolling stock testing, track component evaluations, or human factors assessments
• Familiarity with data analysis tools, engineering software, and railway simulation models
• Experience developing price quotes and managing contracts with clients
• Previous experience working with government agencies, transit authorities, or private railway companies
