Responsible for the day-to-day management of complex FPS projects and engagements, which typically include routing studies; system implementation, upgrade or remediation projects. Responsible for planning, execution and communication as outlined in work agreements or contracts and is the primary communication conduit between our client contacts, location staff and the applicable FPS resources. Manages project timelines and resources to meet delivery requirements and ensure client satisfaction. This will be a remote position.
Major Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains detailed project plans, anticipates project risks and challenges and develops mitigation plans for FPS' higher complexity projects. Provides integral input on engagement documents (work agreements or contracts). Plans, forecasts and manages resource requirements throughout project lifecycle. Reviews all final output by team members to ensure it meets customer requirements and established guidelines for quality. Coordinates requests for all district data and information needed to successfully complete projects.
- Communicates project status and actions to key stakeholders. Ensures that project recordkeeping and reporting are completed as required. Logs hours worked and other relevant project information into FPS administrative platforms. Completes trip summaries and other project reporting as required.
- Conducts internal and external user training on FPS-supported applications. Identifies client training needs, develops plans and delivers training to meet needs. Prepares and/or creates training materials, manuals and exercises for class.
- Troubleshoots and remediates complex and distressed routing system installations for First Student locations or school districts
- Assists Business Development efforts wherever possible through analysis of RFP requirements and/or route data analysis to estimate vehicle, driver hour and mileage requirements. Develop supporting sales materials, including proposal language. Provide system demonstrations. Participate in sales presentations and/or calls as needed.
- Assists locations or clients as needed with on-site or remote route creation and maintenance, particularly with school startup, scenario changes or other urgent situations. Imports district- provided data, such as student information as needed. Develops reports and data extracts as required by clients
- Performs complex routing analyses including efficiency studies or scenario analysis, such as boundary, bell time transportation rules changes. Develop appropriate reports and present and defend findings to internal and external clients.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of the routing systems and related tools and applications prevalent in this industry. Where appropriate, recommends new tools or upgrades of existing tools to drive productivity or service levels
- Provides telephone and remote user support to locations and school district users, troubleshooting problems and answering questions on a timely basis.
- Conducts analysis of existing routing and transportation needs and resources of school districts or operating locations and make appropriate recommendations for solutions to improve productivity and service.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned including help with special projects, needs or requests.

Minimum Education or Certifications Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
- Technology, logistics or transportation planning experience preferred
- Sufficient experience in the full lifecycle of mid-scale project planning would be considered an alternative to formal education.
Minimum Experience or Skills Required
- Ability to complete projects on time and on budget with superior client satisfaction.
- Excellent problem solving, written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Thorough knowledge of GIS-based routing system architecture, navigational tools, map functions, display, maintenance and reports.
- Effective knowledge of established GIS applications and products.
- Proven experience working independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite.
- Demonstrated proficiency installing and troubleshooting Edulog.NT and VersaTrans.
- Ability to learn quickly and transfer knowledge to others.
- Proven ability to take high level business requirements and create viable solutions.
- Extensive experience managing customer relationships.
- Three years or more experience deploying and supporting complex software applications.
