Now Hiring: Assistant Location Manager
Location: CREC Schools – East Hartford, CT
Wage Range: $65,000 – $75,000/year (commensurate with experience)
At First Student, our Assistant Location Managers are a vital part of our leadership team, supporting daily operations and ensuring safe, reliable transportation for the students of CREC Schools. In this role, you'll work side-by-side with the Location Manager, overseeing staff, managing operations, building relationships, and ensuring contract and regulatory compliance.

What You'll Be Doing:
Supporting all day-to-day activities at the location, including safety, maintenance, dispatch, fleet and facility management, payroll, routing, and reporting
Leading, coaching, and developing a team, with full supervisory responsibility (hiring, training, performance management, retention, and discipline)
Building positive relationships with school officials, staff, parents, and the community
Managing customer contracts, ensuring contract compliance, and addressing issues or concerns promptly and professionally
Supporting budgeting and financial controls for the location
Ensuring compliance with all state, federal, local, and company policies and procedures
Assisting with administering collective bargaining agreements and working with union officials as needed
Promoting company initiatives and supporting a culture of safety
What We're Looking For:
Supervisory experience is highly preferred
Experience working in a union environment is highly preferred
Transportation industry background is highly preferred
Minimum 5 years of operations experience (including driver roles, dispatch, or similar) and/or bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills
Proven leadership, team-building, and customer service abilities
