About the Position
We are seeking a Human Resources (HR) Manager to lead the day-to-day HR operations at our location. As a key business partner to the General Manager, you will be responsible for recruitment, new hire orientation, employee relations, compliance, and leave administration. This role is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, people-focused environment and is passionate about supporting employees while ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle recruitment efforts in partnership with the central talent acquisition team, including:
- Monitoring and managing candidates within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Proactively sourcing and communicating open positions.
- Organizing local career events and job fairs.
- Screening candidates, conducting interviews, and overseeing the hiring process.
- Conduct EEO investigations, employee relations reviews, and complaint investigations, providing guidance to management on follow-up and discipline.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws, as well as company policies, in partnership with the Location Management Team.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations issues, working with regional HR leadership on complex matters.
- Oversee employee actions and record-keeping, including hiring, promotions, and terminations.
- Respond to inquiries regarding employee relations, compensation, benefits, and leave of absence, escalating more complex issues to regional or corporate HR specialists.
- Manage employee leave administration, coordinating requests with FMLA, STD, and LTD plans, and facilitating return-to-work and fit-for-duty processes.
- Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding to ensure a smooth transition for employees.
- Maintain and review employment records and ensure accurate data management.
- Support policy compliance and workplace procedures while fostering a positive work environment.
- Perform additional HR duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in HR functions preferred; recruitment experience a plus.
- Union experience preferred.
- General knowledge of employment laws and best practices.
- Strong ability to build relationships and collaborate with employees at all levels.
- High degree of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to advise and influence.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
