Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Process Engineering Automation Manager located in Flex Guadalajara North.

Reporting to the Director, Operations Engineering the Process Engineering Automation Manager will be focused on cost, quality and delivery improvements in order to hold up a manufacturing organization. Improving process engineering capabilities and managing the Automation projects deployment across the Core Industrial sites, will ensure the technical feasibility, the ROI and the execution in time

What a typical day looks like:

  • Lead initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve efficiency.
  • Ability to analyze process parameters, troubleshot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement process to increase yields and reduce defects. 
  • Conduct process validation and optimization activities, including DOE (Design of Experiments) studies, process capability analysis, to identify opportunities for improvement and enhance process robustness.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, cycle time and production floor layout.
  • Provides process recommendations for technical and cost perspective.
  • Lead process engineering activities with senior stakeholders.
  • Define manufacturing process flow and type of equipment to be used for NPIs, focusing on high quality standard and productivity.
  • Work closely with engineering site leaders, to deploy process improvements and automation projects.
  • Define, develop, and deploy automation cost effective automation solution into Flex sites.
  • Develop budget and schedule for projects and manage projects to stay within them. Able to quickly cost evaluate and work up the financial justification for automating
  • Conduct equipment design reviews and provide design guidance to suppliers.
  • Manage automation developments through all phases of projects.
  • Set regular meetings with sites, to ensure projects schedule deployment.
  • Draft qualification protocols and support equipment qualification activities.
  • Develop manufacturing solutions with the best combination of manual, semi-automation and/or full automation. Evaluate and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.
  • Support new product development automation needs, facilitate assembly processes through the implementation of assembly cells and automated equipment at NPI stage and ensure meeting development timeline.
  • Interface with customers and functional owners on product development issues regarding automation. Conduct design-for-automation examination and provide detailed recommendations.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide status reports as per established schedule.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to the automation and processes

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering electronics, mechatronics or related field is required and related experience.
  • A Master's degree is preferred
  • Experience/Knowledge in PCBA Manufacturing ProcesseProcesses and improving methods.s.  
  • Project Management planning skills.
  • Solid experience in the electronics manufacturing process, such as SMT, backend (PTH) and Box Build), including equipment, materials and tooling (stencil and fixtures).
  • Knowledge of tools like Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing to drive improvement initiatives.
  • Strong background in mechanical assembly, chassis integration, PCB assembly and PMFEA.
  • Understanding of Test (X-Ray, ACT, FVT, BI), Failure Analysis and Repair process for electronic manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with industry quality standards like IPC and J-STD-001. 
  • Experience managing automated processes within schedule and budgetary parameters.
  • Must have experience in electro-mechanical assemblies and process troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 automation.
  • Digitalization and control SPC interpretation and analysis, advanced skills in Minitab, Excel and Power Point
  • Digitalization and control.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for customer contact and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • People management.
  • Advanced English
  • Availability to Travel, Visa and passport is preferred
