Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Product Engineer located in Guadalajara, North Campus.

Reporting to the Process Engineering Director, Product Engineer role involves being responsible for receiving, analyze, clean, and customize all technical information/documentation from the customer related to his product, derived from a New Product Introduction (NPI) or a design change in order to establish all necessary processes to manufacture it by maintaining its design and performance integrity.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Handle product transfer and new product set up.
  • Support production by assessing product engineering issues of diverse scope that arise on production line.
  • Suggest improvements to process to obtain improved quality and production yield.
  • Solve product related problems and perform failure analysis related to product issues.
  • Interact with customer and various departments on product related issues – engineering changes, new model development.
  • Work with design team to resolve design related issues.
  • Suggest modification to work instructions, material or product changes to ensure superior quality of products.
  • Customer´s Bill of Material (BOM) analysis and structure definition for production.
  • Functional Product Documentation review.
  • Safety Requirements and regulations compliance identification.
  • Engineering Drawings Interpretation of individual parts and assemblies.
  • Request customer for drawing corrections, additions, clarification, measurements methods.
  • Lead Engineering Changes Implementation.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM), tolerance analysis, Design of Experiment (DOE), form-fit-function to determine failure root/cause analysis and reporting to customer.
  • Provide support to supply chain to integrate parts derived from the vertical integration or localization effort.
  • Provide product training to the manufacturing/process engineers for better understanding of the product.
  • Request, handle and administrate golden samples, engineering samples of final product and/or piece parts.
  • Establish, operate and maintain a standard method for technical information interchange with the customer to control and preserve information of NPI transferred projects.
  • Analysis of customer product parts and assemblies through model files using Computer-aided Design (CAD) system.
  • Analyze and determine course of action of Product Change Notification (PCN) and Manufacturing Change Order (MCO).
  • Ability to take additional responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer depending on the size and complexity of the customer product.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • BA/BS or equivalent work experience.
  • Fluent English.
  • Previous experience in similar positions.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
  • Ability to analyze problems, design experiments, conduct a design for manufacturing analysis, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Knowledge on metrology measurement methods, engineering drawing interpretations, Parts and assemblies' analysis using CAD system.
  • Use of the following tools may be required: Electronic Assembly: color code, component, schematics. May require various PCB and Systems operations. Testing: oscilloscope, cable and harness testing, trouble shooting, component testing, logic analyzer. Inspection: bare board, systems, components, cable and harness, microscope, measuring tools. Mechanical & Electrical Tools: taps and dies, alignment tools, measuring tools.
  • Demonstrates operations and technical skills and understanding of Flex's functional standards.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of functional concepts and a solid understanding of Flex policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computerized electronic test equipment and programming.
  • Demonstrates advanced functional and technical skills and basic process skills.
  • Demonstrates advanced/ thorough knowledge of the function and Flex business.
  • Typically requires skill and troubleshooting, and diagnostics, and overview of the entire test process and the ability to train others.
  • Demonstrates advanced operations, technical and people and/or process skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of the function and a thorough understanding of Flex and related business.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of multiple functional technologies/ processes, industries or functions and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.
  • Demonstrates skills in teaching/leading and/or mentoring; may lead a team.
  • Models' appropriate behavior in support of Flex values.
