Job Summary Job Description

Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we're calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications

The “Repair Process Engineer” will be based in …Guadalajara North…., reporting to …Process Manager

Ensure the stability, control, and continuous improvement of critical repair processes, guaranteeing product reliability, compliance with customer requirements and electronics industry standards, while minimizing quality risks and field failures.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Define, implement, and control critical repair processes for electronic assemblies (PCBAs) across SMT, ICT, backend, and functional test operations.
  • Perform root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, RCA, Ishikawa (Fishbone), Pareto Analysis, and Process FMEA.
  • Establish repair criteria and rework limits in accordance with IPC standards and customer-specific requirements.
  • Validate repair equipment, tools, thermal profiles, and repair methodologies to ensure process effectiveness and product reliability.
  • Provide technical support to Production, Quality, NPI, and Test Engineering during line stoppages, quality escapes, and critical manufacturing events.
  • Ensure full traceability of critical repairs within the manufacturing execution system.
  • Develop, maintain, and release work instructions, visual aids, and process documentation.
  • Train, evaluate, and certify repair technicians in accordance with IPC-7711/7721 standards.
  • Actively participate in internal, customer, and certification audits.
  • Approve or reject critical repairs on work-in-process (WIP) and finished products.
  • Determine when product scrapping is required due to compromised electrical or mechanical reliability.
  • Stop production flow when quality risks or non-compliance with standards are identified.
  • Approve temporary process deviations in coordination with the Quality organization. ​

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics

  • Experience in electronics manufacturing processes, with a focus on critical repair operations or process engineering.
  • Knowledge of SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and PHT (Pin Through Hole Technology) processes.
  • Experience creating thermal profiling boards.
  • Development of repair profiles and interpretation of temperature/reflow profiles.
  • Operation and maintenance of rework equipment such as SRT systems, Mini-Wave soldering machines, AIR-VAC systems, soldering stations, and similar tools.
  • Advanced PCBA repair skills, including BGA, QFN, LGA, fine-pitch components, pads, and trace repairs.
  • ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) control in electronics manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5 Whys, SPC, PFMEA, process flow diagrams, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
  • Structured problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Technical leadership on the manufacturing floor.
  • Effective communication with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • High level of discipline and focus on process robustness.
  • Strong accountability and ownership mindset.
  • Sense of urgency.
  • Creativity and continuous improvement orientation
