Job Summary

Motion Controls International (MCI), a Flex company, is the global market leader in mirror glass and power-folding actuators. As part of our continued growth, MCI is expanding its portfolio into advanced automotive actuation solutions, including Active Aerodynamics and Motor Cooling Management systems.

To support our next generation of automotive products, we are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team in Woerden, Netherlands.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and validation of embedded software for automotive actuator control systems. You will work closely with hardware, systems, and validation engineers to deliver robust, high-quality software solutions for innovative automotive applications. What a typical day looks like
  • Develop and maintain embedded software using bare-metal Embedded C (C++ is a plus).
  • Design, implement, and debug bootloaders for embedded automotive systems.
  • Develop and maintain Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL) and low-level software components.
  • Implement and troubleshoot LIN communication interfaces (CAN experience is an advantage).
  • Perform software integration, debugging, and root cause analysis on embedded systems.
  • Develop and execute unit tests and support software verification activities.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware and systems engineers to ensure successful product integration.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, ensuring compliance with coding standards and quality requirements.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of software development practices.
  • Support product development from concept through validation and production release.
The experience we're looking to add to our team
  • Degree in Software, Computer, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in Automotive Embedded Software Development.
  • Expert knowledge of bare-metal Embedded C, with C++ considered a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with bootloader development, integration, and debugging.
  • Experience with LIN communication, microcontrollers, and embedded debugging tools (CAN is a plus).
  • Proven experience developing Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL) and performing software integration, debugging, and unit testing.
  • Knowledge of DC motor control, control loop implementation, and automotive software development processes such as ASPICE.
  • Strong focus on software quality, maintainability, technical documentation, and code reviews.
  • Proactive problem-solver with high ownership, accountability, an agile mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
