VP of IT Digital Transformation Leader

Role Summary

The Digital Transformation Leader is accountable for establishing and leading the enterprise‑wide transformation to SAP S/4HANA, including building the SAP organization from the ground up. This role owns strategy, team creation, execution, adoption, and value realization for the company's SAP journey and enabling the overall digital strategy for our organization.

The leader will create a world‑class SAP capability, leverage Agentic AI and SAP Joule to accelerate delivery and adoption, and deliver a standardized, intelligent digital core that enables operational excellence, scalability, and long‑term business agility. He/She/They will work closely with the business and digital teams to define our overall digital business transformation roadmap fueled through SAP S4.

This role serves as the single point of accountability for one of the company's most critical multi‑year digital business transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise SAP S/4HANA Transformation

  • Define and execute the company‑wide SAP S/4HANA transformation strategy aligned to business priorities and long‑term digital vision.
  • Establish transformation principles focused on standardization, clean core, minimal customization, and SAP best‑practice adoption.
  • Lead the end‑to‑end S/4HANA implementation across all business units and regions, including design, build, testing, data migration, cutover, and stabilization.
  • Own executive governance, steering committees, and all major scope, design, and investment decisions.
  • Partner with Business transformation leaders to enable change management and adoption to the blueprint and accelerate the implementation roadmap

Build & Lead the SAP Organization

  • Design and build the internal SAP capability from scratch, including:
    • SAP Center of Excellence (CoE)
    • Functional leads (Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, Sales)
    • Technical, integration, data, and analytics roles
    • Release management, support, and continuous‑improvement teams
  • Define the operating model for SAP ownership post‑go‑live (run, enhance, innovate).
  • Establish clear role definitions, career paths, and capability‑building plans to reduce long‑term reliance on system integrators.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top SAP talent while creating a strong culture of accountability, business partnership, and continuous improvement.
  • Determine the optimal mix of internal staff, partners, and managed services over time.

Agentic AI–Enabled Transformation Delivery

  • Leverage Agentic AI to materially improve speed, quality, and predictability of the S/4HANA program by augmenting:
    • Process discovery and fit‑to‑standard analysis
    • Requirements rationalization and blueprint validation
    • Data profiling, cleansing, migration, and reconciliation
    • Test case generation, execution insights, and defect triage
    • Cutover planning, risk forecasting, and scenario simulation
  • Embed AI agents into delivery workflows to reduce manual effort and program cycle time.
  • Establish controls and governance to ensure AI‑assisted outcomes are accurate, auditable, and compliant.

SAP Joule & Intelligent User Enablement

  • Champion SAP Joule as the embedded AI copilot across S/4HANA to:
    • Improve business user productivity through conversational access to SAP processes and data.
    • Reduce training burden and accelerate adoption with context‑aware, guided assistance.
    • Enable faster decisions through actionable, real‑time insights inside SAP workflows.
  • Prioritize high‑value Joule use cases across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Commercial functions.
  • Ensure Joule is deployed securely, responsibly, and aligned with enterprise AI governance.

Business Process & Value Transformation

  • Drive enterprise‑wide process harmonization across core value streams (Record‑to‑Report, Order‑to‑Cash, Procure‑to‑Pay, Plan‑to‑Produce).
  • Translate business strategy into standardized SAP capabilities and AI‑driven insights.
  • Resolve cross‑functional trade‑offs to optimize enterprise outcomes rather than local customization.

Change Management & Adoption

  • Lead change management and adoption globally, ensuring strong executive sponsorship and business ownership.
  • Use AI‑driven insights to proactively identify adoption risks, training gaps, and process friction.
  • Establish super‑user networks, role‑based enablement, and structured post‑go‑live optimization cycles.

Technology, Architecture & Data

  • Ensure SAP S/4HANA is implemented as a clean, scalable digital core integrated with surrounding systems, analytics, and AI services.
  • Oversee data governance, master data management, and analytics foundations required for intelligent operations.
  • Partner with IT leadership on deployment model decisions (on‑premise, private cloud, public cloud, RISE with SAP).

Vendor, Financial & Risk Management

  • Manage global system integrators and SAP partners with disciplined performance, cost, and quality management.
  • Own transformation budgets, benefits tracking, and ROI realization—including productivity gains from AI.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate delivery, organizational, and technology risks.

Executive & Board Engagement

  • Serve as the executive owner and primary spokesperson for the SAP and AI‑enabled transformation.
  • Provide transparent, outcome‑focused reporting on progress, risks, adoption, and realized value.
  • Translate transformation status into clear business impact for senior leadership and the Board.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 15+ years of experience leading large‑scale ERP or digital transformations in complex, global enterprises.
  • Proven delivery of at least one end‑to‑end SAP S/4HANA implementation.
  • Experience building and scaling SAP teams or Centers of Excellence strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Commercial processes.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI, analytics, or automation to enterprise transformation.
  • Executive‑level credibility with the ability to drive alignment and tough decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • SAP S/4HANA, SAP Activate, transformation leadership certifications a plus.

Leadership Competencies

  • Enterprise‑level strategic thinker with strong business and financial acumen
  • Builder mindset—comfortable creating teams, capabilities, and operating models from scratch
  • A disciplined professional with a commitment to standardized processes.
  • Fluent in translating SAP and AI capabilities into measurable business outcomes
