Position Summary

The Manager, Facilities leads the maintenance, operation, and efficiency of the building and grounds, including the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscape, and structural systems. 


Job Duties

  • Develops and implements preventative maintenance programs for operating and maintaining safety, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and waste management systems.
  • Maintains operational readiness of the facility to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Stays up to date with safety and environmental regulations, building codes, and other compliance requirements to ensure the facility meets legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts regular inspections of facilities to identify potential hazards, improve the operating efficiency of the building envelope and infrastructure, and ensure compliance with local and federal regulations.
  • Plans, organizes, and executes facility-related projects, including renovations, upgrades, and relocations. Works cross-collaboratively with project leaders and vendors to assist with construction and renovation projects.
  • Gathers and analyzes data, blueprints, and reports to optimize facility space and footprint.
  • Maintains accurate facility records, demand, and usage of utilities. 
  • Oversees and responds to facility emergencies, such as power outages or plumbing leaks, to minimize damage to the facility.
  • Evaluates scheduled and unscheduled work requests and allocates the necessary resources.
  • Develops and manages budget, track expenses, and optimize cost-savings measures. 
  • Negotiates contracts, oversees service level agreements, and ensures quality control throughout the execution of the project.
  • Manages the facilities staff, contractors, and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, space planning, interior design highly preferred.


Experience Requirements

A bachelor's degree and a combination of five or more years of practical and supervisory experience in construction/installation methodologies, planning and scheduling processes, financial reporting, monitoring systems. Previous Lean manufacturing experience preferred.


In lieu of a bachelor's degree, ten years or more of practical experience in construction/installation methodologies, planning and scheduling processes, financial reporting, monitoring systems with at least five years supervisory experience is required. Previous Lean manufacturing experience preferred.


Skills and Competencies

  • Understand sustainable facility management practices, including energy efficiency, waste management, and environmental sustainability to optimize resource usage and reduce the facility's environmental impact.
  • Possess leadership qualities to supervise and motivate facility staff and foster a positive work environment.
  • Possess the ability to effectively manage relationships with external contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical skills and detailed-oriented. 
  • Must be a self-starter, proactive, flexible, and deadline focused.


Tools

Advanced skills with auto CAD, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Access, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer). Hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.


Licenses/Certifications

Facility Management Professional (FMP), Facilities Management Certificate (FMC), and LEED AP certification are highly desired.


Working Conditions

May be exposed to dangerous machinery and loud noises with temperature extremes. Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds unassisted. Must have the ability to maneuver in tight spaces. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs and work at elevated heights.
