Position Title: Director of Education

Position Summary: The Director of Education's mission is to ensure that the academic program at Fusion is robust, adaptable, and innovative; student outcomes are clear and measurable; the teaching staff is well trained, supported. The position is also a leader in maintaining/supporting campus culture.

Work Location: In person

Job Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000 USD. Salary Exempt, per year

Schedule: M-F, Full Time, on campus. Some evenings and weekends.

About Us:

Fusion Academy in Folsom is a fully accredited, private middle school, and high school. We are a new brick and mortar campus in Northern California but the 69 campus with the Fusion Education Group. Our school provides a rigorous. 1:1 academic experience, tailored to the needs of our students. We balance learning with social experiences, activities, trips, and many opportunities to make friends. Who we are looking for:

Fusion is a highly specialized and revolutionary environment for all groups of students. For this reason, we are looking for a candidate that embodies our pedagogy for instruction but also has the skills to bring our cultural vision alive. Our Assistant Director must have a firm knowledge of instruction and learning at the middle and high school level. They must have experience as a classroom teacher, curriculum developer, and/or an instructional coach.

The Director of Education should feel at ease collaborating with students and their parents, formulating academic plans, and addressing various issues. We are looking for a teammate who is positive, proactive, adept, and 100% dedicated to the success of the whole campus. Key Responsibilities Include:

Oversee the administration of formal assessment tools and surveys, disseminate the results, and incorporate results to support goal planning for both students and campus.

Conduct student charting checks and classroom observations.

Support Mastery Learning Model and ensure CA state standards/outcomes are being met.

Support teachers, students, and families with academic and curriculum questions.

Support hiring process as needed: post positions, screen resumes, interview, conduct mock teaching sessions, process new hire paperwork.

Facilitate all components of teacher training and keep required documentation.

Conduct ongoing training and management of Department Heads and teacher leaders.

Conduct regular classroom observations, provide feedback to teachers through effective coaching sessions, and assist Head of School with teacher evaluations.

Train, support, and audit teacher record keeping and Fusion processes.

Plan, create, provide support for and execute teacher professional development.

Monitor Campus School Quality Program and maintain Fusion expectations.

Continuously enhance Fusion culture and happiness factor with students and staff.

Foster a culture of critical thinking, intellectual inquiry, and inclusivity.

Handle emergent issues with staff, students, and parents, in collaboration with other administrators.

Communicate frequently with the Head of School and provide necessary updates.

Support and participate in leadership, staff meetings, outreach and campus events.

Support campus and administrative needs.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of teaching experience, with a strong preference for school administration expertise.

This individual should possess strong interpersonal skills and have prior experience working with students with learning differences. Experience working with students who are neurodiverse (i.e.: ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Generalized Anxiety).

Monitoring and enhancing an academic program.

Onboarding, training, and ongoing development of teaching staff and Department Heads.

Experience creating and executing a vibrant staff culture with emphasis on inclusivity, self-awareness, and personal growth.

Being an invaluable member of the campus leadership team.

Creating raving fans out of students, parents, teachers, and the community.

Successful experience driving change and or leading continuous development initiatives.

Qualifications Desired:

Master's Degree in Education with three years of experience in school administration.

A strong understanding of enacting and supporting students' IEP, IEE or 540s.

Experience with teacher coaching and knowledge of culturally responsive coaching/mentorship models.

Experience in 'Topgrading' style of recruitment, and retainment of talent.

Demonstrated abilities in building relationships with families both as customers, stakeholders and community participants.
