Position Summary: 
Our Non-Public Special Education School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to join our team. This position supports our students in a student-centered, emotionally responsive learning environment that fosters growth in academic skills, emotional regulation, and independence. The ideal candidate will demonstrate patience, flexibility, and a strong commitment to supporting students with unique learning needs. 

Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Provide academic and behavioral support to students in one-to-one and small group settings under the direction of a certified teacher. 
  • Support the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs). 
  • Assist in the preparation and adaptation of instructional materials. 
  • Promote student engagement, emotional security, and positive peer interactions. 
  • Model appropriate behavior and mentor students throughout the school day. 
  • Communicate regularly with the classroom teacher and other team members to monitor student progress. 
  • Assist with classroom organization, transitions, and supervision. 
  • Participate in professional development and staff meetings. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications Required: 

  • Current Illinois Paraprofessional License 
  • Associate's degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred. 
  • Paraprofessional approval through the Illinois State Board of Education. 
  • Experience working with students with learning differences or emotional challenges preferred. 
  • Florida residents require level 2 background screening through https://info.flclearinghouse.com/.
