Description

The Sr. Manager, Global Inspections is responsible for assisting in carrying out the development and implementation of the company's Quality Assurance Program with primary emphasis on the global inspection strategy. Key functions involve: overseeing and coordinating daily activities of the local inspection teams in US and vendors self-inspection in different countries outside of US, optimize inspection asset allocation and driving efficiencies in inspection coverage, ensure accuracy of the inspection plans, related inspection protocols and implementation, establish dashboard tracking to build clear metrics and drive continuous improvement on product quality and team competency, and help to develop a quality inspection team that will support the continuous growth of the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive inspection strategies aimed at increasing coverage of identified items while driving efficiencies.      
  • Lead field inspection team in US and oversee oversea vendor ‘s self-inspection on behalf of HFT        
  • Works directly with process owners to develop, optimize and implement process controls, standards and inspection checkpoints for products or parts.
  • Implement tracking and measurement tools to assess process performance against established inspection goals.        
  • Drive continuous improvement of the inspection process including maintenance of the inspection check sheets, skip lot rules, inspection database, and other required inspection documentation.    
  • Development of new inspection protocols and Best Practices to improve inspection efficiency and effectiveness.      
  • Review inspection findings and facilitate communication and action plans with local and Asia QA counterparts, senior leadership and vendors, and manage the CAPA process internally and externally. 
  • Monitor factory inspection performance to determine where emphasis should be placed to prevent issue recurrence and provide visibility of vendors with repeated inspection issues.       
  • Ensure timeliness, clarity and accuracy of all technical documentation and correspondence.
  • Hire, train and develop US inspection team to develop and maintain a high competent and performing quality control team.       
  • Additional duties as assigned by manager.

Requirements

Education and Experience

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering, from an accredited university.

Years of Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience

Skills
  • Must be a self-starter, results driven and proven leader with a demonstrated track record of performance in a professional quality department setting.
  • Hands-on practical experience with related HFT product offerings is desired.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in leading field inspection teams desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people both inside and outside the company.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a global, multi-cultural, multi-time zone environment.
  • Sense of urgency, collaborative team style, and ability to quickly adapt to changes in priorities with strong decision-making skills.
  • Written communication skills are necessary for technical report writing, and strong follow-up skills.
  • Strong ability to multi-task for timely project completions.
  • Must be hands-on and have a strong “whatever it takes” attitude to get the job done.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and carry out responsibilities with a minimum of direction.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in problem-solving tools and techniques.
  • Advanced computer skills in project management, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
Physical Requirements
General office environment requiring ability to: *Stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time. *Speak and listen to others in person and over the phone and video conferencing. *Use keyboard and read from computer screen and reports. *The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. *Ability to travel frequently within China to various supplier manufacturing sites. *Ability to walk factory manufacturing operations and spend considerable time on the factory floor.
