Note: The compensation range noted above represents the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across#the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries will be determined based on the candidate#s relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. # Position Summary The Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care#to patients undergoing gastrointestinal and endoscopic procedures. This role includes patient#assessment and care in the pre-operative, intra-procedural, and post-anesthesia recovery phases.#The RN collaborates closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary care#team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care throughout the endoscopy experience. Participation#in an on-call rotation is required. Essential Duties and#Responsibilities Pre-Procedure Responsibilities  Perform pre-operative nursing assessments, including medical history, medication#reconciliation, allergies, and vital signs.  Prepare patients for procedures by initiating IV access, administering ordered#medications, and providing patient/family education.  Verify informed consent, procedure readiness, and compliance with pre-procedure#requirements.  Identify and communicate any abnormal findings or patient concerns to the provider and#care team. Procedural Responsibilities  Function as the circulating nurse during endoscopic procedures.  Coordinate patient care and support the procedural team throughout cases.  Monitor patient condition and communicate changes in patient status to the physician and#anesthesia provider.  Maintain accurate procedural documentation, including medications, specimens,#equipment usage, and patient records.  Ensure procedure rooms are appropriately prepared, stocked, and compliant with#infection prevention and safety standards.  Assist with specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to policy.  Maintain patient safety, comfort, privacy, and positioning during procedures.  Respond appropriately to emergency situations and assist the procedural team as needed. Recovery Responsibilities  Monitor patients during post-anesthesia recovery and evaluate readiness for discharge.  Assess pain, airway status, bleeding, nausea, and other post-procedural complications.  Provide discharge instructions and patient/family education regarding post-procedure#care and follow-up.  Accurately document patient care, medications, assessments, and outcomes in the#electronic medical record. Additional Responsibilities  Participate in quality improvement initiatives and compliance activities.  Maintain endoscopy equipment and ensure procedure rooms are appropriately stocked#and prepared.  Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.  Participate in departmental meetings, continuing education, and required training.  Any additional responsibilities based on the Director/ Managers discretion. On-Call Requirements  Participation in an on-call rotation is required for after-hours during the week, weekend,#and holidays.  Must be able to respond within the designated response time established by the#department. Qualifications  Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state.  Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.  Minimum of 1#2 years of nursing experience preferred; endoscopy, procedural, PACU,#ICU, or critical care experience strongly preferred.  Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.  Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced procedural environment.
