Holyoke Medical Center is a proud 219-bed community hospital that has served the healthcare needs of the Pioneer Valley for over 125 years.# We continue to grow and address the needs of our community through quality and patient-centered care.# The Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist#Intern will perform a variety of duties under the direct supervision of a registered MT, MLS or MLT.# The Intern will have the opportunity to develop new necessary knowledge and#skills in laboratory diagnostic care to become a certified MLT or MLS. This internship position is a combination of mandatory academic and clinical training that covers#clinical chemistry. Other opportunities to learn skills and theory in other laboratory depts may become available.#The#Intern will have the understanding that he/she will be required to pass an ASCP or AMT board exam within two years of completing the HMC Intern program.# After the completion of this internship program, the intern will be obligated to work a minimum of two years#of employment at Holyoke Medical Center Laboratory if any part-time or full-time position is available. If no positions are available, Holyoke Medical Center will hire the intern as a per diem employee for a minimum of six months to help the intern achieve the requirements of the ASCP or AMT certification requirements.## REQUIREMENTS:# Bachelor#s#degree#in#a#chemical,#physical,#biological,#clinical laboratory science or medical technology program from an accredited institution. Must have completed classes that meet the ASCP requirements to become an MLT or MLS. A minimum of 6 months experience in a hospital laboratory setting At#least#two#laboratory references#are required. # Applicants must have: A passion for caring about a community through quality work in a stand-alone hospital lab. A drive to learn new practices to be able to adapt to our rapidly growing test menu. A willingness to offer new ideas to the team to help with our culture of continuous improvement.
