The ED Social Worker will provide mental health and substance use support for patients in the Emergency Department.##Provide appropriate referrals for outpatient providers and/or treatment. Engage in case collaboration with the emergency department and treatment team.# Assist nursing with social work needs of our ER patients. Clinical Competency - To provide overall case management services and clinical interventions as a part of the multi-disciplinary team caring for Emergency Department patients. To develop and provide professional social work services to patients and their families including psycho social evaluations, family education, case management, and discharge planning. To have knowledge and understanding of socio economic issues#and various treatment modalities to provide education on these modalities to patients, families and providers. To work as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team to clinically and competently assess all aspects of patient needs for acutely ill psychiatric and substance abusing patients and refer for appropriate follow up. To provide appropriate intervention, disposition, and referrals for these patients; using knowledge based in clinical theory and practice; and to use this knowledge to make clinical judgments and interventions, to meet the individual care needs of the patient and/or family. To provide education to the patient/family/collateral contact that is specific to the patient#s needs and level of comprehension, and that is relevant to the disposition and safety of the patient. To attend and participate in treatment team meetings on a daily basis.# To make clinical contributions to the team based on assessment of the patient, patient diagnosis, and the assessment of the family and/or support system. To assist the Treatment Team with establishing goals for the patient during the course of stay Qualifications/Job Requirements Education: Masters degree in psychology or related field. Licenses/Registrations: LICSW# Experience: At least 2 years of behavioral health experience as a clinician.
