Description of the Position: The Operations Manager II supports the Operations Manager I in maintaining safe and efficient operations of manufacturing support services in a 24/7 production environment in accordance with company and customer requirements. Will follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and report noncompliance when observed. In addition, the candidate will observe all company safety rules and assist in enforcement as appropriate. Responsibilities: • Oversee day to day operations of manufacturing support services in a 24/7 production environment • Identifies legal and customer requirements affecting operations and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance. • Writes and responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and operations. • Advises management on the appropriate resolution of operating issues. • Promotes a safe environment for the customer's product and workers. • Provides 100% customer satisfaction. • Builds a positive team environment by listening to and communicating with all associates. • Monitors daily compliance with safety procedures. • Prepares and investigates accident reports. • Facilitates the maintenance of operational equipment, including preventative maintenance in order to ensure equipment is maintained and repaired for safe operation • Prepares various quantitative reports requested by the Facility Manager. • Provides and/or coordinates training needed to maintain skill levels. • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. • Interface several times daily with customer owned departments to ensure operational success and customer satisfaction • Counsel/Mentor supervisors as needed. • Ensure timely submission of documentation from supervisory team • Conduct safety and process compliance investigations • Attend safety committee and other departmental meetings with customer and internal leadership. • Set direction for teams via communication with team lead. • Communicate and update with Operations Manager I and Facility Manager • Facilitate supervisory staff meetings • Ensure training compliance • Ensure compliance with safety reporting and investigation procedures • On call for in-plant associates via company provided cell phone in case of emergencies. • Assign work according to customer need • Ensure that attendance and time off requests are approved timely, support supervisors as needed • Ensure that performance reviews are completed in timely manner, and approve reviews prior to presentation to associates • Make entries into associate request system as needed • Follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and report noncompliance when observed. • Observe all company safety rules and assist in enforcement as appropriate. • Other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. • Candidates must have good oral and written communication skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required. • Must have knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory statutes governing production operations and must be able to work in a varied, fast-paced environment. • May be required to travel to other facilities. • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the work environment (e.g. protective footwear, protective eyewear, hearing protection, bump cap, gloves, etc.) in accordance with safety policies. • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from associates, managers, the customer, regulatory agencies, and the general public. • Ability to speak effectively with individuals at all levels within and external to the company. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
