Intertek is searching for a Regional Laboratory Manager to join our Caleb Brett team in our West Gulf Coast region, in Deer Park, TX. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the world's petroleum, mining, minerals, and biofuels industries!

The Regional Laboratory Manager takes a technical role and has overall responsibility for the technical operations and the provision of the resources needed to ensure the required quality of laboratory operation. The Regional Laboratory Manager shall maintain and improve the laboratory's technical operation efficient in a cost‐effective manner, ensure resources such as manpower,
training, equipment, workflow is available to create a sustainable laboratory operation regionally.

 What you'll do:

  • Implement, maintain, enforce, and improve the laboratories in the region, the Company's operating plans for the following: Quality Management, Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance, Legal and Ethical Compliance. Training.
  • Render to clients an accurate, rapid and efficient testing service of indisputable integrity.
  • Collaborate with local lab managers to provide supervision of testing and review of results when necessary.
  • Collaborate with local lab managers to ensure that adequate calibrated equipment and trained personnel are available for all jobs in each lab.
  • Collaborate with local lab managers to evaluate laboratory employee performance, maintains discipline, and recommends hiring and dismissal across the region.
  • Appoint deputies for key laboratory duties and ensures personnel are aware of the relevance and importance of their activities and how their role contributes to the quality system.
  • Follow‐up rapidly, all reports of workplace issues. Determines legitimacy of complaints and follow‐up on all legitimate complaints.
  • Seek new business.
  • Be a positive company representative to clients.
  • Carry  out all responsibilities in a supportive manner with adherence to the Company's Safety Policy and procedures, Quality Management System, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System.
  • Perform other duties as required.         

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor 's degree in chemistry or similar field preferred.
  • Three + years of laboratory management experience in the petroleum industry is required.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of a petroleum laboratory.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Develop testing protocols for to meet customer requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in laboratory operating systems.
  • Protocol, procedure and safety oriented.
  • Ability to interact with customers of various backgrounds.
  • Ability to develop high achieving teams and interface well with other Intertek departments.
  • Understand and analyze the data generated by test methods.

  • Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work

  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
